Takoma Park, MD

I took this color picture of Gussini Shoes on New Hampshire Ave in November some time. A few weeks later I noticed a picture in the Takoma Park Newsletter of the same building, except this time it looked different. Sadly the building burned down. I liked it because it used to be a popular movie theater in the 1950's, the blank marquee still hanging. Takoma Park Newsletter picture credit: Melanie Isis.

It was a popular moving theater through the 60s and into the 70s. I grew up in the Silver Spring and we (my older brother and I) walked to the Allen every so often, when there was nothing any good at any other theater. They specialized in horror movies, at least in the 60s and 70s.
